INTERKULTSEMINAR 2016

INTERKULTSEMINAR 2016

INTERCULTURAL YOUTH WORK

Unlike the earlier information the seminar will be held in May 2017.

This year’s edition of the seminar, which always focuses on the cultural youth work, looks for incentives for immigrant backgrounded youngsters to apply for art studies. The seminar will also touch on the matter of the responsibility of schools in targeting minorities, and if it is guaranteed an equal opportunity in gaining access to the language of art. How many youngsters are incentivated to become art makers as well as part of the audience? Are they all offered things to identify with in an equal manner? On the seminar we’ll try to examine the school path undertaken by youngsters starting from primary school, through a discussion with interesting invited speakers.

At the seminar there will be speakers from the Finnish National Board of Education, University of the Arts, specialized high school and primary school. It will be arranged a panel discussion where youngsters will bring forward their own views on the matter; what kind of support the youngsters need when deciding what to study? And what kind of thoughts the students from the university can share? The seminar is open to all interested on the subject.
