Culture Hub Interkult’s newsletter 4/2017

In April we arranged, together with Malmitalo, the opportunity for 12 groups of preschool kids to get involved with art. They got to do their own Mexican masks, learn the secrets about Djembe rythm and drumming, and try out different Balinese dances.
During April and May we are arranging together with Annantalo and HAM an extensive art course for kids to learn about public artworks. Interkult is providing a series of workshops for the participants, where they get to make their own public artwork using recycling materials. These workshops are led by artist Macoumba Ndaye.
Our performative art groups are also continuing with their rehearsals at Hakunila Youth Center, Taidetalo Toteemi, Harju Youth Center and Resident House Mylläri. In May the groups will get to perform at Loistava näkymä; a relaxed mini-festival where the different groups can showcase for each other, friends and families bits and pieces of what they’ve been working on during the year.
We also have a new face at the office! Linda Valtonen is studying Cultural management and producing at Humak of Applied Sciences. Linda is doing her practical training at Interkult during April and May. You can bump into her at our different events during the spring – hope to see you there!
